Tubie and the Touchtones
Endorsed artist and bass player Les Morey exclusively uses Steve Clayton standard and custom picks.
“For at least two decades, I’ve been using Steve Clayton .80mm acetyl rounded triangle picks…for many of those years with the classic eagle logo, but more recently with custom Tubie and the Touchtones logos, which are a great hit when tossed to the crowd. If you folks ever stop making that pick, I would probably have to quit playing bass. I’ve been playing with those picks for so long it’s as if they are part of my hand–I can’t imagine using anything else, and I never want to try!” – Les Morey
Tubie and the Touchtones are purveyors of the Texas Blues, and hail from Navasota, Texas, the “Official Blues Capital of Texas”. In fact, Tubie and The Touchtones played in the Texas State Capitol rotunda in Austin for the reading of the resolution in the Texas state legislature naming Navasota as the official blues capital, having been the signature band for the Navasota Blues Fest Organization for 7 years. The band are two-time nominees for the Texas Music Awards in 2009 and 2010, and the Touchtones were the opening band for the 2009 awards ceremony. With three CDs under their belt since 2007 and a fourth scheduled to be released by fall 2012, Tubie and the Touchtones have earned the reputation as contemporary standard bearers for the genre pioneered by Mance Lipscomb and refined by artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughn.
